Brazilian Soccer Schools and SOCATOTS had a strong presence at this year’s Grass Roots Football Live show. Coaches, players and parents travelled to Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre for the three day show, looking for insight into youth football.
Brazilian Soccer Schools and SOCATOTS founder, Simon Clifford, was asked to give a talk on youth development. The line up of speakers included the likes of Peter Taylor, Ian Holloway, George Burley, Alan Curbishley, Ian Dowie, Graham Taylor and Alan Smith – proof of the high regard Simon’s opinion is held in.
Some of the above were also asked to perform coaching demonstrations, along with academy directors of professional football clubs. Again, Brazilian Soccer Schools were also asked to participate and BSS Sunderland Head Coach, Steve Nichol, ran a session in the 700 seat coaching arena.
In between presentations Brazilian Soccer Schools and SOCATOTS staff were camped out in the skills zone, offering players and parents the chance to experience a session. A special thank you goes to SOCATOTS Stafford, East Stafford, North Stafford, Lichfield and Walsall and BSS Birmingham, Stourbridge, Lichfield and Tameside; parents, players and coaches contributed a great deal over the weekend and impressed all who stopped by. One parent had this to say: “We've just arrived home from the NEC, and feeling a little tired! Just want to say a big thank you to you on behalf of Luke and Sam. We really enjoyed our day, as you made us feel very welcome. I would like to take this opportunity to express how wonderful I think SOCATOTS is. I can confidently state that I believe this is definitely the future of English football.” The crowds were also wowed by BSS graduate and world freestyle champion, John Farnworth. Fresh from string of television appearances and with the launch of his own freestyle academy in the US on the horizon, John stopped off to juggle with current BSS players to keep sharp in between performances. John said: “It’s great to see the next wave of BSS players working on their skills. I was really impressed by the players I juggled with and enjoyed it a lot. If they keep practicing who knows what they could achieve.” |
