100 pre-school children who attend classes with SOCATOTS Renfrewshire attended an end of year World Cup themed party on 19th June 2010.
The main aim of the party was for the kids to have some well earned fun whilst raising some funds for Make-a-Wish Foundation UK.
SOCATOTS Head Coach Carol Heaton had this to say: "Over the years our SOCATOTS have supported a number of children’s charities with their fundraising. This time around we’re working with Make-a-Wish and with all the buzz about the World Cup we're aiming to support a child's dream of seeing their favourite football team in action on a VIP trip. So from a bunch of footie mad kids to another footie mad kid we managed to raise £301.41 today and hopefully we can boost that a bit further over coming weeks.
"Make-a-Wish is a wonderful charity helping make lasting memories for children and families living with life-threatening illnesses. We hope that we've been able to make a difference by helping raise funds for them. The event was of course a particular success thanks to our wonderful and supportive parents and guardians who donated generously and all of our coaches who worked very hard – all in aid of Make-a-Wish.” The World Cup theme wasn’t just because there’s so much football on TV at the moment. SOCATOTS Renfrewshire is this year adding Brazilian Soccer Schools to its network, giving children aged 5-18 years old the chance to ‘Play the Brazilian Way’. “We showed our full and unbiased support to the Brazil team throughout the party,” said Carol. “Samba music played, clips of Brazilian football greats played, many of the kids died their hair and the older ones wore their new Brazilian Soccer Schools kit.” SOCATOTS Renfrewshire would like to thank the generous support of the following organisations who helped make the World Cup Party and fundraising a success: Our Partner Renfrewshire Leisure Ltd who supplied us the venue and also Pizza Hut, Glasgow Road, Paisley who supplied us piping hot pizza in special world cup boxes (all devoured - no waste!). |
